Not a great deal to report from today’s activities since
most of it was spent in an airplane. We flew from Calgary to Frankfurt via
London spending about 9 hours in the air in total. The trip was without incident
(except for the usual hassles going through security check after security check).
Neither of us got much sleep. We did manage to forget (misplace) a couple of
items. One was an adapter for our power converter. Luckily the hotel manager
had a spare to lend to us for our whole trip! Whew. Check out the hotel and the
rather spartan “compact” room we have.
We then picked up the bike as scheduled and did a bit of
fiddling with the riding settings in preparation for tomorrow’s start. Check out Danilo and the bike as he was installing
the GPS unit.
We went to McDonalds for a Chicken McWrap dinner (it is
close and convenient). Not our usual fare, in fact we do everything we can to
avoid fast food but neither of us felt like looking any further. After dinner Norma met a rather nasty German wasp who took exception to her presence and stung her twice.
We are thus more or less ready to go. . . stayed tuned –
with good fortune we will find ourselves in Stade, in the northern part of Germany
tomorrow evening.
