Ljubljana, Slovenia

Had a bit of overnight rain but the day turned out to be nice – temps in the high teens. We began the with our complimentary breakfast buffet – a wonderful array of food allowing us to basically skip lunch as we sated ourselves.
We then walked back to town and marvelled at the number of people/families strolling around in the early morning as we thought it was not going to be as busy as last night. Got a cute shot of a little girl and her dog engaged in an animated conversation while sitting on the steps of a statue. She was doing most of the talking.
We then took a cog cable car up to Ljubljana Castle from downtown and walked around the  15th century castle seeing the prison, art gallery, chapel and other features. We attended a film presentation on its history as well.

At 2pm we met the rest of our tour group for an orientation then Doug went to the garage to get a lesson on the bike’s operation and ride it back to the hotel - about a 50 km trip, where they practiced riding in formation and corner marking (2nd person in line stops to direct everyone behind which way to turn and then nips back in at the end of the line).

The group consists of three couples, us; John and Gail from Newcastle, Australia; Ken and Cynthia from Sonoma, California; John from Virginia; Marin from Sydney Australia and Steve from Townsville, Australia. Everyone seems to get along well.

Our guide Matej took us all out to dinner at the castle. A very nice evening and start to our adventure.
