Marula Mountain Village, Limpopo, SA

Did not really say much about all our travel as we were pretty tired after over 20 hours of flights. Our flight did leave 30 minutes early so we arrived in Amsterdam with over 3 hours wait. Did not have to go through customs there. The seats on that fight were pretty cramped for Doug but the next flight was great. We were fed two meals on each of the flights along with snacks and even ice cream in the middle of the afternoon. Lots of movie watching though some were subtitled with it being a Dutch airlines. Customs in Joburg was a breeze but first we had to stand in front of a fever meter. Guess they use this to keep sick people under control.

Everything has gone according to plan today, except we are not supposed to be here as another caravan park we picked out from the net is only open on weekends. Not a problem as there appear to be no shortage of camper sites.

This morning we woke to sunny skies in Joburg and had a great breakfast at the B&B. Attached is a shot of our deck area outside our room. The owner then drove us to the camper rental place where we picked up our accommodation for the next month. Attached are a couple of shots of the unit in the caravan park.

We shopped for provisions at the local ‘Pick and Pay‘ supermarket. Prices are comparable to home with a few things cheaper (e.g. cheese) and a few more expensive (e.g. Coke). We are now stocked up for a few days.

We ended up on the Toll highway for part of today’s travel but cannot figure it out. One section cost 85 rand but then the next was 400 and it was only for a few minutes. No matter – it made for easier travel.

We are still both having trouble realizing we are really here in South Africa! Tomorrow we will begin to head toward Kruger Park.
