Sailing to Crete

On Board Thai Restaurant
We were able to watch our departure from Valetta from our dinner table last evening. It looked beautiful with the city lights on the wall. Our dinner companions were from California but own property on Flathead Lake. The recent changes in mining rights in the Canadian Flathead river valley were a topic of discussion. They were very supportive of our efforts. It was a bit wavy once we left the island but not enough to bother us. The evening’s entertainment was a pianist who played a medley of international selections entitled  “Around the World”. He even “stopped off” in Canada. Doug was hoping he would play some “Stompin’ Tom” but no such luck. We both really enjoyed it. He is to do another show in a few days so we will be sure to take that one in as well.
A Nook in The Library

We are covering the 565 nautical miles to Crete, so a full day at sea. Lots of passing ships to see. We have been taking part in some of the day’s activities, the putting contest this morning and again this afternoon, a shopping lecture (tips on what and how to buy at specific ports of call) and again the team trivia contest. Doug is now wanted by another team – he may sell his services to the highest bidder.
A Boutique
Also got a bit of laundry done. That was one of the busiest places on board this morning as everyone is taking advantage of a day at sea. A good place to meet a few more people. It is nice and warm with minimal breeze so very pleasant to be outside. The sea temperature is supposed to be 27C. Today they provided a special brunch in the Grand Dining room so we made it be an early lunch. A string ensemble entertained.
String Quartet
For dinner we tried the ostrich. In case you have not sampled this exotic food and were expecting a big chicken, think again as it is a coarse grained dark meat. It reminded me of moose.
Grand Dining Room (with comedic waiters)
Because we don’t have any real “scenery” today (unless you like a view of the open water of the Mediterranean ocean) we have included some pictures of the ship’s facilities.
